History

Today there are fewer and fewer places that haven’t been affected by pollution and industrial development. One of the few regions in Ukraine that has been ecologically preserved is the Poltava region. The Myrgorod mineral water plant is located in this area.
The mineral water source in Mygorod was discovered in 1912 by a local doctor, Ivan Andreyevich Zubkovskiy, who drew a water sample and sent it to the Military Medical Academy in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg). On October 11, 1915 the Military Medical Academy issued its conclusion: “The water has a healing ability when applied externally.” Later it was confirmed that the water also had healing properties when consumed, and that its healing ability was similar to the waters of Soden, Baden-Baden and Aachen.

In 1916, the Medical Council allowed water from Myrgorod to be bottled for distribution as well as for healing. On April 15, 1917 a hydrotherapy establishment was opened in the resort. It specialized in healing rheumatism, gout and diseases related to the nervous system. In 1927, the Myrgorod mineral water plant was founded to develop the use of Myrgorodska mineral water in other locations.

In 1970, the Gosplan of the USSR made the decision to construct a new plant, as the old plant was exhausted. Construction started in 1971, and the new plant began operations on December 30, 1974.

In 1975-77, three new automatic lines with a capacity of 15,000 bottles per hour were installed.

Present

Rich experience, tradition and a team of dedicated professionals … These are the parts that have come together at the enterprise over many decades. They have allowed the Myrgorod mineral water plant to maintain its activity after the lengthy crisis of the 1990s, and later, in cooperation with IDS Group, to achieve a leading position in the Ukrainian mineral water market.

On June 17, 1994 the Myrgorod mineral water plant became a closed joint stock company. The first shareholder meetings were dedicated to questions of strategic development and technological upgrades. As a result, production facilities were reconstructed, improving the quality of the product and increasing productivity.

Following an investment in 1995, a German KHS production line was installed. The line bottles mineral water in a 1.5 liter plastic package.

In 1996, the plant initiated cooperation with IDS Group.

In 1998, a second production line for bottling mineral water and non-alcoholic beverages in 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 liter plastic packages started operations. Technology upgrades increased productivity by almost 160% from 1997 levels.

Also in 1998, a workshop bottling Stary Myrgorod drinking mineral water went into operation. The water is bottled in 5 liter jerricans made of eco-friendly polyethylene. What’s more, we organized our own production of performs and caps for the jerricans. In 1999, production of Sorochynska table water began. The water is produced using a special technology and has a unique refreshing taste. The start of Soroshynska production was timed to coincide with the 190th anniversary of the birth of writer Nikolay Gogol.
The Myrgorod mineral water plant adheres to the highest standards of systematic quality control. In August 2001, the plant’s quality control system was approved by the national certification system UkrSEPRO. In July 2001, the plant was certified according to the international quality control standard ISO 9002.

In 2006, the Myrgorod mineral water plant received another important confirmation of quality - the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certificate. This opens new opportunities for expansion in both domestic and international markets.
HACCP is a systematic preventive approach to food and pharmaceutical safety that addresses physical, chemical and biological hazards as a means of prevention rather than finished product inspection. Today this system is used worldwide. It is a legal requirement in the US, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and many other countries.

In late 2006, the most powerful bottling line in Ukraine started operating at the plant. It is a new, fully-automated Krones (Germany) production line producing 24,000 bottles per hour, eight bottles per second. The equipment cost US$5.5 million. The increase in the production rate was conducted in strict accordance with European requirements for water quality. The bottling line is equipped with a three-step filtration system consisting of mechanic sand filters.  This means that Myrgorodska brand products are now produced with new levels of protection.

The same year, a new modernized bottling line was installed to produce Stary Myrgorod drinking water. The Italian line SIPA, which produces 2,200 six liter bottles per hour, exceeds the previous line by over 500%. There is no comparable production line in Ukraine.

In October 2005, the Myrgorod mineral water plant celebrated its 80th anniversary. Today the plant is a large, widely-known Ukrainian producer with a reputation developed over many years. The enterprise uses modern equipment certified by international standards and is one of the most innovative in the industry. The plant’s personnel are considered to be among the most qualified in the sector. A modern production laboratory enables us to conduct comprehensive quality control. The product goes through a thorough quality control process, has an attractive package, and is protected against falsification. As the industry leader, the Myrgorod mineral water plant responds promptly to market requirements by expanding its product range and increasing production volumes. Considerable funds are invested in new technologies, equipment improvement and personnel development.
