Morshynska natural mineral water is known and loved by millions of Ukrainians. The water is extracted in the city of Morshyn (Lviv oblast, Ukraine), a resort which is situated on a hillside in the eastern part of the Carpathian mountain range. Virgin Carpathian forests surround the city, ensuring the area’s ancient ecological purity.

The “Madonna” source, from which Morshynska rises, was discovered in 1879 by former city master Bonifatsiy Shtiller. According to legend, children saw an image of the Madonna near the source. Since then, the fame of Morshyn mineral water (and its unusual qualities) has spread through western Ukraine and beyond.

The first research into the Morshyn natural mineral table waters was conducted during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Further research confirmed that the water has a unique effect, normalizing the metabolism and cleansing the body.

Until the end of the 20th century, Morshyn’s water was used exclusively for the needs of the resort. However, geological research showed that the resource is among the largest in Ukraine, and a modern production facility to bottle the natural mineral water was therefore set up.

In 1995, the Oskar Morshyn mineral water plant was founded. It started bottling natural table water for consumers throughout Ukraine. In 1999, a second bottling workshop was opened. The product range was expanded to six types: three types of carbonation water (0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 liter) and three types of still water (0.5, 1.5 and 5.0 liter).

The Morshyn mineral water deposit was classified as “Unique” by decree No456 of 07/03/2000 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

In late 2000, Morshynska’s range was expanded with a new product - Morshynska Sport.  It features a sports cap designed especially for athletes, drivers and those with an active lifestyle.

In 2001, bottling of still water in 10 and 18.9 liter plastic packages began.

In 2002 saw the launch of Morshynska Premium table water in 0.5 liter glass bottles, as well as of Morshynska still water in 6 liter plastic bottles.

Today the Oskar Morshyn mineral water plant is a powerful and innovative enterprise equipped with modern technological facilities. The plant is the second largest in the industry by production volume and the market leader in the still and carbonated table water segments. The enterprise’s professional team uses a modern approach. To ensure a supply of high–quality, original product to consumers, a thorough system of quality control was implemented. It encompasses all stages of production, from the source to the consumer. It starts with the monitoring of water quality at the source and then has regular controls during production. The finished product goes through internal and state certification.  It is then delivered to branches around Ukraine, undergoing quality management at storage facilities, and there is constant quality control once it reaches the shelves to eliminate the possibility of counterfeits. The plant’s modern production and analysis laboratory also enhances the quality control system. Laboratory specialists constantly monitor the water’s physical, chemical and microbiological indicators, as well as controlling the raw materials supplied to the plant. Control is conducted on-the-fly, which means the results of the analysis are received at each working shift.

The particular feature of Morshynska production is that the water undergoes no technological changes during the production process - both its physical and chemical structure remain unchanged. What’s more, the original Morshynska formula does not require any changing, as it has a balanced mineral composition and a natural purity. The water from the deposit reaches the bottle in just seven minutes and only goes through mechanical filters. This preserves the natural original formula. The newest technologies used at the Oskar Morshyn mineral water plant allow bottling of the water without changing the unique composition, thereby bringing Morshyn’s beneficial qualities to customers in Ukraine and beyond.

In early June 2007, a new production complex was launched in Morshyn. A modernized mineral water plant, called Oskar, was constructed by the old workshops. The total investment in the new plant is US$10 million. The enterprise has three production lines for bottling of 900,000 liters of Morshynska per day. Today the new facilities at the Oskar Morshyn mineral water plant are  unique within Ukraine.
