History
The famous resort of Truskavets is one of the most popular spa locations in Ukraine and eastern Europe. It is located in a huge forest park at 350-400m above sea level by the eastern Carpathian mountains. Over the centuries, Truskavets has been famous for its healing mineral waters.
Truskavets was first mentioned as an inhabited settlement in 1469. The local population has long used the area’s “bitter”, “sour” and other waters to cure different diseases, although the first serious scientific research of the local waters only started in the early 19th century.
Truskavets has been officially considered a resort since 1827 when the first hydrotherapy center was built by the water sources.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Truskavets becomes known as one of the leading “water” resorts in Europe, along with Vichy in France, Baden-Baden in Germany and Karlovy Vary in what is today in the Czech Republic .
In the Soviet era, the resort was important throughout the union, and in 1970 was one of the three most popular health resorts in the USSR.
As well as medical waters, Truskavets is a source of table water, which has a similar mineral composition but a lower mineral content. These waters can be consumed daily by everyone, both to energize or simply to quench thirst.
Present
Until recently Truskavets table water was bottled by several separate small producers. In 2004-2008 IDS Group, the leader in the Ukrainian mineral water market, combined six separate enterprises and incorporated the new venture into the Group. This modernized production processes, improved quality control and ensured systematic and qualified hydro-geological monitoring of the deposit.
Today Truskavets mineral water plant is a part of IDS Group and is produced at two neighboring production sites, both equipped with modern European facilities.
Superb quality, purity and preservation of Truskavetska’s original natural composition are guaranteed by two factors. First, the water sources are in guarded reserve zones and the deposit is isolated from any harmfu
l waste or pollution. Second, as one of the prominent enterprises in the industry, all production processes at the Truskavets mineral water plant are fully automated and use sophisticated technology. Water from about 30 sources (with an average depth of 40-70m) within a couple kilometers of the enterprise is extracted and delivered to the plant through special mineral pipes, which maintain the absolute purity of the water. It then goes through a special multi-layer filtration system containing various types of sand and gravel. This removes mechanic dashes but does not interfere with the water composition. Then the water is delivered to a powerful computerized bottling line, with plastic bottles that are rinsed with the same mineral water prior to bottling. This is evidence of the high level of production at the plant.
Qualified personnel conduct strict control of all stages of the technological process. Product quality is monitored by the plant’s own laboratory for chemical and microbiological control. The careful approach and modern European technology allow all of us enjoy the unique Truskavets natural spa water every day.
